National Anthems of Singapore (Past to Present)

From Colonial to Independence National Anthems of Singapore

From Colonial period to Japanese Occupation to Merger and till Independence , Singapore has 4 National Anthems.

Singapore's National Anthem when during Colonial Rule of British (1819-1942 & 1945-1962)

During our Colonial period of Singapore when we were once under the British , the National Anthem at that time was  : God Save the Queen

God save our gracious Queen
Long live our noble Queen
God save the Queen
Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over us
God save the Queen

O Lord our God arise
Scatter her enemies
And make them fall
Confound their politics
Frustrate their knavish tricks
On Thee our hopes we fix
God save us all

Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour
Long may she reign
May she defend our laws
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen

Not in this land alone
But be God's mercies known
From shore to shore
Lord make the nations see
That men should brothers be
And form one family
The wide world over

From every latent foe
From the assassins blow
God save the Queen
O'er her thine arm extend
For Britain's sake defend
Our mother, prince, and friend
God save the Queen

Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring
May he sedition hush
And like a torrent rush
Rebellious Scots to crush
God save the King

Continue for a thousand, eight thousand generations,
Until the pebbles
Grow into boulders
Lush with moss
Poetic English translation by English professor Basil Hall Chamberlain
Thousands of years of happy reign be thine;
Rule on, my lord, until what are pebbles now
By ages united to mighty rocks shall grow
Whose venerable sides the moss doth line.

Malaysia Forever Lyrics

Let's get together, Sing a happy song, Malaysia forever, Ten million strong.
Land of the free, Marching as one. Ready to share in every way, So let's get it done -- get it done, get it done.
We're all in the same boat, Steady as you go. Let's pull together, Everybody row -- row, row, row.
It's right, It's the answer ,There's no other way, To be good neighbours, Everyday Malaysia Forever.
Evermore more, United for liberty, Home of the happy people, Just you wait and see -- wait and see, wait and see, wait and see.
Let's get together, Sing a happy song, Malaysia forever, Ten million strong.
We're ready for merger, Let's open the door, To Malaysia forever, Ever more!
